How To Post Gifs On Instagram
In this article I’ll be showing you how to post a gif on Instagram, including sharing gifts as posting your feed, using the new gift sticker feature for Instagram stories, and creating your own gifts with the boomerang app. Now let’s get started.
Post a GIF in Instagram Feed
First I’ll show you how to post a gif on your regular Instagram feed. You can find thousands of awesome gifts on Giphy.Com. So that’s where we’re going to begin.
Open your web browser and go to Gihpy.Com. You can do this on your computer, or on your mobile device. Then click in the search bar and type in a word related to the type of image you’d like to find. Browse the search results to find a gif you like. When you find one click on it.
Now you’ll see some social sharing icons, click the Instagram buttom. In the small window that appears, type in your email address. If you will convert the gif to an mp4 video file and email it to you so, you can share it to Instagram.
Once you’ve typed in your address, click send. After a few minutes open up the email app on your mobile device, and find the email from giphy. Then tap and hold on the video attachment to access some saving and sharing options.
Select save video. Now go back to your home screen and launch Instagram. Tap the new post icon at the bottom. Select the video file you just saved from giphy. Then tap next.
Add a filter to the video if you’d like, and tap next again. Now you can add a caption to your post. When you’re ready tap share, to post it.
Post a GIF in Instagram Feed (Method 2)
If you want to use the new gift sticker feature, open Instagram and tap the camera’ icon in the top left. Then tap the circle icon to capture a photo, or hold it down to capture a video.
If you’d like to post a photo or video that’s saved to your camera roll, swipe your finger upwards from the bottom of your screen to access your photo gallery. Then tap an image to select it.
Now top the sticker icon at the top. Select the gift sticker buttom. Now search for the kind of gift you’d like to find. When you see when you like, tap it to add it to your story. Then you can drag it into place.
When you’re happy with how it looks tap send to. Next to your story near the top of your screen, tap share to post it.
Create Own Originals GIFs
Want to create your own original gifts you can capture your own through the boomerang app by Instagram. To start download the boomerang app for free from the App Store. When the installation is complete, launch the app.
Then hold down the circle buttom near the bottom, to capture a short video clip. The app will then turn your video into an animation, playing forward and in reverse. To share it tap the Instagram icon.
Now select whether you’d like to share it to your feed, or to your story. Then continue with the sharing process as you normally would. Gifts are usually low-quality, and large file sizes.
