There are multiple ways you can go about transferring contacts from Android to Android, including exporting them to your SIM card, using software specific to your device, or using a third-party app or software to transfer your contacts.
Transfer Contacts Using Google
However the fastest and easiest method we found is to use Google to transfer your contacts between Android devices.
All you need is a Google account, would you likely already have if you’ve been using an Android device. If not you can sign up for one at accounts.google.com/signup. This method is free and easy and uses Google software that’s already built into your Android phone.
To start out with this method open the contacts app on your old Android device. Tap of the more icon in the top right corner ,then select settings from the drop-down menu. Tap contacts.
Now tap import/export contacts. Select export to device storage. Then tap ok. Your contacts will be saved as a VCF file on your device.
The next step is to transfer that file to your computer. The easiest way to do this is to email it to yourself. You can use your existing Google account with the Gmail app that comes pre-installed on most Android devices. If you don’t see the Gmail app on your device already you can download it from the Google Play Store for free.
Open the Gmail app and create a new email message to send to yourself. Enter your own email address in the two text box. Then tap the attachment icon at the top of your screen and select attach file.
Locate the file you just created within your device’s internal storage. When you’re ready tap the paper airplane icon at the top to send it off.
Now open your computer’s web browser and go to your Gmail inbox. You may need to enter your email address and password to log in. Open the email you just sent to yourself. Click the download button to save the VCF file to your computer
Next go to google.com/contacts. On the left side click import contacts. Then click Choose file. Locate the VCF file in your downloads folder. Then click open. Click import to add your contacts to your Google account
When you’re setting up your new phone you’ll be prompted to sign into your Google account. Once you sign in your contacts will be automatically imported to your new Android device.
